Malaysia in Snapshots
Malaysia, the roots of my heritage. This vibrant south East Asian country boasts cultural and culinary diversity, brow perspiring sub-tropical climates, and a laid back-“lah” approach to life. Due to our time limits, our journey to this culturally rich country involved Kuala Lumpur, Cameron Highlands, and Penang. However, you can be rest assured that Malaysia offers travel experiences ranging to suit the urban shopper right through to the avid mountain trekker, just take your pick.
KUALA LUMPUR
CAMERON HIGHLANDS
Getting there: The highlands can be reached by an approximate 3.5 hour bus ride, which can be booked online.
Accommodation: We booked a basic room via bookings.com otherwise there are various alternatives through Air BnB, Hostelbooker, or an array of home-stays.
Activities: Highly recommend the Eco Cameron eco-tour company. Our charming yet knowledgeable tour guide, Raj, was one of the highlights of our experiences at the Cameron Highlands.
PENANG
Penang, the charming seaside state of Malaysia’s northwest coast. Due to its heavy British colonisation influence dating back to the 1700s, Penang’s architecture can feel juxtaposed to the brightly coloured and infamous Penang Rickshaws and street art.
